Design Project: Painted Kitchen Cabinets

Hello! Welcome to a Designed Home post.  Have you have ever considered painting your kitchen cabinets?  I painted ours a creamy white a couple of years ago and I am hooked:

Recently I was hired by a client to paint her cabinets.  She wanted to brighten up her kitchen that felt a little dark.

We discussed paint colors and decided on a creamy white to match her beautiful counter tops, and then I went to work sanding, priming and painting!

KITCHEN DESIGN TIP–add a lamp for the kitchen counter. Since this client leaves her kitchen lights off most of the time, a lamp adds a great touch of warmth and glow to a dark corner.

I will share a more detailed post in the future on HOW to carry out painting kitchen cabinets if you are interested.

Every once in a while, I think about doing this. I would really like to buy new cabinets and countertops, but it can get SSOOO pricey! Then I think to myself “maybe painting is the way to go”.

Sara, it is such a great way to find “peace” with what you currently have–you will feel like they are new!
